KRISHNA RAO - First record available.

Our Family belongs to the Deshastha Brahmin Community, hailing from Bijapur.  The hereditary occupation was to hold the office of Deshpande.  Deshpande were either Tax Collectors or Book Keepers who maintained land and revenue records of a specific region.  Two brothers who belonged to our family left their hereditary office and came Southward and took employment under Nanda Raj Wodeyar of Srirangapatna.
Krishna Rao was the son of one of the Brothers.
In 18th Century, Krishna Rao worked for Nanda raja Wodeyar in Srirangapatna.  After Hyder Ali got the better of the Wodeyar’s, Krishna Rao was retained by Krishna Rao to work for him.  Until his death, Krishna Rao held the post of Sheristadar of Hosur under Hyder Ali.
As per Wikipedia, A Sheristadar was the Chief officer of the Court, entrusted with the task of receiving and checking court pleas.  The word has been derived from the Persian Word, sarishta-dar meaning “record keeper”.  The Sheristadar is responsible of entire judicial administration of a District/State.

AMCHA HISTORY

This Blog is setup to post the illustrious history of our Family, rather ‘Amcha’ Family.

Our Family was known as the Kambaynallur Family and gradually, part of it came to be known as the Krishnagiri Family.  There were many stalwarts in the family and we are fast losing our links with our past.  This is an attempt to compile whatever information we have of our ancestors and try to capture the memories, some of the elders have about our ancestors.

Hopefully this will act as a guide for future generations, to know our History.
